Nesting Boxes

Nesting Boxes
The wildlife team also manages the 400 acres of grasslands found on site. Mowing was delayed until the end of the nesting season in 2009, and in 2010 the team began a rotational mowing regime. In addition, the wildlife team maintains an extensive nest box program. The team initially installed two bluebird boxes, and Boy Scouts constructed 18 additional bluebird boxes. Eight bluebirds, 23 house wrens, 73 tree swallows, four carolina wrens, and 14 black-capped chickadees successfully hatched in the boxes in 2010.
