Composting - It's Recycling...Naturally

Components of Compost

The process of composting uses the natural process of decay to change organic wastes (i.e., grass clippings, food scraps, and leaves) into a valuable, humus-like material known as compost.

Decay Process Factors

Building a compost pile or bin allows you to influence the natural decay process by controlling the following factors:

  • Air (oxygen)
  • Water
  • Food
  • Temperature

Speeding Up the Process

By managing these factors, you can speed up the otherwise naturally slow decay process.
